Engineering World Health (EWH) DTU is currently not actively sending students through our partnership with Engineers Without Borders (EWB) USA, which we, as explained in the text below, normally have a collaboration with. The trip is still applicable through EWB USA and we, as a student organization, would love to help any interested students with the planning for this trip. The target for EWB DTU is sending students from 2027 and forward.

Engineering World Health DTU is a student organization and NGO founded in 2013 at the Technical University of Denmark. We give engineering students the opportunity to work with medical equipment and make a real difference in healthcare.
Our activities center around two main areas: International Summer Institutes and projects within Denmark. Through our Summer Institutes, DTU students travel to countries like Tanzania, Nepal, Rwanda, Mongolia, and Guatemala to work directly in hospitals and clinics. Students get hands-on experience repairing medical equipment, learn how to troubleshoot devices they've never seen before, and help train local healthcare staff.
Back in Denmark, we organize workshops where students can practice with medical equipment troubleshooting and collaborate with local NGOs on healthcare-related projects, like checking equipment before sending the donated equipment abroad. This gives both medical technical expertise for the students and fixes the equipment for deployment in vulnerable regions.
During our Summer Institutes, which are organized in collaboration with EWB USA, students get to travel to countries with limited healthcare infrastructure and work hands-on with medical equipment but also work on secondary projects based on local hospital needs. Students live with local families in addition to receiving classes in the local language and culture.
We operate through an elected board and are always looking for new members who want to try something different and develop their engineering skills in a healthcare setting. Membership is required for Summer Institute participation, and we welcome students from all engineering disciplines. You can read more about becoming a part of EWH DTU here: https://ewh.dtu.dk/join
